My hair is thinning on the top and sides. Can I reverse this or improve this problem and with what?
Why is my hair thinning. I am female, 60 & do not take any hormone replacements. Is this the reason?

It certainly could be.
At 60, your body is no longer manufacturing progesterone.
Here is an article:
By Dr. John Lee, MD
http://www.johnleemd.com
When progesterone levels fall as a result of overian follicle
failure (lack of ovulation), the body responds by increasing
its production of the adrenal cortical steroid, androstenedione,
an alternative precursor for the production of other adrenal
cortical hormones. Androstenedione conveys some androgenic
(male-like) properties, in this case, male pattern hair loss.
When progesterone levels are raised by progesterone cream, the androstenedione level will gradually fall, and your normal hair
growth will eventually resume. Since hair growth is a slow process, it may take four to six months for the effects to become apparent.

It's also very important to read Dr. John Lee's books,
What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Premenopause,
What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Menopause
and is most recent book
What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Breast Cancer.
These three books are must reads for any woman who
refuses to pump synthetic hormones into her percious body.
darling you are growing old,
silver threads among the gold,
but my darling you will be,
always young and dear to me!
You may be low on iron or B12 vitamins. Low hormones, surgery, stress, illness, hair dyes, styling utensils (curlers, hair dryer, curling iron, etc.)
I've heard castor oil is good for growing hair. Depending on what your problem is, a doctor may make suggestions as to what you can do to reverse the hair loss.
Good luck!
i think it is normal to lose hair as u get older. my mother eats half a protein bar a day and her hair has thickened up. she tried different brands to see which ones she liked. They r in the pharmacy area at Walmart.
