You might want to look into something called body dysmorphic disorder...it's sort of a sub-type of OCD.

Here is the definition from mayo clinic:
"Body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) is characterized by an excessive preoccupation with a real or imagined defect in your physical appearance.

People with body dysmorphic disorder have a distorted or exaggerated view of how they look and are obsessed with actual physical characteristics or perceived flaws, such as a certain facial feature or imperfections of the skin. They often think of themselves as ugly or disfigured. People with body dysmorphic disorder often have problems controlling negative thoughts about their appearance, even when reassured by others that they look fine and that the minor or perceived flaws aren't noticeable or excessive."

Here's a link to another site with info:
http://www.clevelandclinic.org/health/health-info/docs/3700/3776.asp?index=9888

And one more
http://www.cnn.com/HEALTH/library/DS/00559.html

I have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, ADHD and a couple of other diagnoses...and although it has not been put on paper, I believe (as did my long time therapist) that I also have BDD. I am not (yet) a mental health professional and nobody here is qualified to make a diagnosis, but I have to say that what your describing seems to fit the criteria for BDD quite well.

You might want to talk to your doctor to see if you're developing OCD and if they could refer you to someone to talk to about it. That's going to be the only way to find out for sure if you have a serious problem beyond the hair issue.
