You only get androgenic alopecia if you have raised androgens - male hormones.   Her doctor should be able to prescribe anti-androgens.

If her temples are receding that is a clear sign of raised androgens.

Of a technical note women  with cystic ovaries can develop androgenic alopecia. Clues to this are an increase in facial / body hair. Weight gain.

If your sister is into competitive sports or a &quot;gym-aholic&quot; this can raise androgens via the adrenal glands.
