I’ve been on Nioxin for over a year and although my hair loss has slowed a bit, I haven’t grown back any hair. My main problem is hair loss from the crown of my head and I am 49 years old. Can I just dump the Nioxin cold turkey when I start the Rogaine, or will that cause problems? If I continue to use Nioxin along with the new rogaine, will it screw up hair regrowth or do the 2 work well as a cocktail where the Nioxin stops hair loss and the rogaine regrows more?
I want to switch from Nioxin to Rogaine- should I continue 2 use Nioxin along with it or will Rogaine be enuf?

Nioxin shampoo will help you to keep from losing hair. A lot of other shampoos cause hair loss. Prell and head and shoulders shampoo has almost the same ph as bleach. Vidal Sassoon, flex, finese shampoos along with others have wax in them. The wax clogs the pores in the scalp and you lose hair because of that. Shampoos with wax in them also coats the hair with this wax and the hair loses its ability to stretch and it breaks. At our hair salon we at one time sold rogaine and we still sell Nioxin. We quit selling rogaine because it didn’t seem to work. When you take vitamins you can tell that your hair and fingernails get stronger. Also Nioxin has not only the shampoo and scalp therapy conditioner but Nioxin puts out more intense conditioners. Nioxin shampoo makes sure that nothing is clogging your pores–its a clarifying shampoo. The stronger Nioxin conditioners feed the roots of your hair causing the roots to go deeper into the scalp. Also you might want to get blood work done because some health problems cause hair loss–thyroid, diabetes, medications. A doctor might give you medication to correct hair loss. It won’t hurt your hair to use Nioxin and Rogaine at the same time. Good Luck
