Hair loss because of lack of protein?

I was a vegetarian for a year until today. I started eating meat again today because I started losing more hair from the roots than usual this past month ( I think it’s because I started exercising more) My question is how quickly will the hair loss stop? or will it have any long term side effects?

P.S. I’m 16

It’s very important that you get the proper nutrients in order to promote hair growth. Especially at a young age it’s totally necessary. Protein does help with hair growth and so does the use of minerals and herbs like magnesium, zinc, vitamin B, pumpkin seed, and many others.

I don’t know if you’re still attempting to be a vegetarian or not but you don’t have to stop just to regrow your hair. There are plenty of nutrients like the ones I listed that you can take without having to eat meat.

There are also other protein sources other than meat you can eat too.

Being a vegetarian does not cause hair loss and protein sources can be found in grains, beans, and other non-meat sources. Is your hair coming out in patchy areas? If so this is called alopecea areata. This can be due to stress, hormonal imbalances, or lack of healthy diet. Add some complex proteins by mixing rice and beans and other varieties and see if this helps, and relax some to get rid of stress.

Yes you can lose your hair from lack of protein. I drink protein shakes. Up your intake and it may take a month or 2, but your hair will stop falling out. You want about 65grams of protein a day. Good Luck

Try the milk chocolate high protein Ensure. I drink one every day and I think it helps.
