I'm a 36 year old woman. I take multi- vitamins that include Vitamine E and B complex. I don't drink alcohol or smoke. I usually colored my hair with permanent color about 3 times a year BUT I've stopped since I have bad thinning on the top of my head. I don't blowdry my hair or use any curling irons. I used the curling iron a lot when I was a teenager though. I haven't used a curling iron for years now. Please offer any good suggestions you may have.
I have NOT been pregnant recently. The last time I was pregnant was last year and it ended in miscarriage after only 10 weeks.

I usually take biotin 5,000 iu (helps grow hair) vitamin E, Vitamin B-12. also Avocado oil is great for the scalp and has allot of vitamins the scalp needs(buy at a health food store). i heard lavender oil helps as well. We all know healthy hair is from the inside out but a bit of help on the outside as well helps. Have you ever heard of nioxin? they have shampoo, conditioner and a tablet that i used once before and my hair grew in really thick and grew 1 inch the first month i used it. its about 20$ a bottle, but i just don't want really thick hair which is why i stopped using it.You might want to give that a try and it will take probably a month to see any result as will anything else including vitamins.
You will want to see your doctor for some blood tests. They will check your iron levels as well as your hormone and thyroid levels. There are some treatments that are topical, like Rogaine, but it's best to see if there is a physical cause first. And if there are some things out of line in the blood tests, there will be some treatment based on those results first. Rogaine unfortunately is a solution that really only works to stabilize the situation, and only works for about 1/3 or people. Unfortunately, as in my case, thinning hair is actually heriditary and related to how your hair follicles react to the testosterone that circulates in your system, whether you are male or female. If it is due to that reason, there are some serious medical treatments that can be undertaken, but that would be under the care of a dermatologist, and can have some potentially serious side effects. Hair colouring, on the other hand, can make your hair appear thicker due to the hair shaft absorbing the hair dye and swelling. Good luck!
Lavender oil has been shown to increase hair growth and make it thicker so massage the oil once a week and soak for 30 minutes before washing. Try http://solutionsforhairgrowth.blogspot.com/ for more details.
Have you had your thyroid checked or any medical test run? If that comes up clear, then maybe it is stress. Maybe exercising and increasing your intake of fresh veggies vitamins and supplements such as biotin, MSM, cystine, etc. I heard good things about Vivscal, provided that you dont have a shellfish allergy. Good luck.
