hi all, i have alopecia areata. im 16 and plz let me tell you its not easy. i wear the same stupid ugly wig everyday. it looks so unatural. my mom suprised me today by telling me she would buy me a custom made vacuum wig! I was SO excited. Later i was doing some research and i found that you have to have COMPLETE hair loss to get one. i have partial hairloss and whats left of my hair is VERY VERY short. does anyone know if the wig will still work? Or if there are any similar alternatives?

First, I’m sorry that you’ve been afflicted with this.
From what I understand, you can use a vacuum wig, but you would most likely have to shave off your remaining hair in order for it to cling to your scalp. And you would have to shave regularly. Which, considering your current condition, probably won’t be a big deal, taking into account what you would get in return. You probably don’t go out in public without some sort of hairpiece or head covering, anyway. So don’t sweat it!
