I apologize that this is kinda long:/ : So I just noticed yesterday when I looked in the mirror that my hair is thinning around my temple area. Immediately I Googled hair loss haha, and found that the temples are the area where men first experience hair loss. However, all of the websites said men tend to experience in their late 20′s early 30′s….I’m 18 years old
My dad is mostly bald, and my brother has big patches of hair missing and he’s only 22. I hear that hair loss comes from your mothers father…but that’s beside the point. Somehow I found this website that said, “This [hair loss] is a natural process that usually starts in your 20′s and progresses throughout middle age. Almost all men in their 20′s will start to have some hair loss but that is totally normal as some hair recedes and a ‘more mature hairline develops.’ This is a rite of passage that should be accepted.” I copied and pasted the article below:

My questions are:
1. Is thinning hair normal at 18 years old?
2. What are some ways I can stop the hair loss/bring hair back?
3. Is there such thing as a “mature hair line”–meaning does everyone’s hair recede as they are maturing?
4. Should I worry about my hair thinning out?
5. Do you think I have already begun the process of balding at my age??
Please, anybody who knows about balding or has experience with it can you answer these questions and give me advice? That would be much appreciated. Thank you to everyone who answers ![]()
@Raquel Do you know what the product is called??

I can’t really answer your question.
All I can say is what happened to me.
I had hair all over my hands after I washed it.
I read some where about "APPLE CIDER VINEGAR"
I use no fancy expensive "So Called" cures.
After I wash my hair (Usually with ordinary soap) I
rub in to my hair a egg cup full (or less) of Apple Cider Vinegar
Now I NEVER have any hair loss.
um…hair loss depends on ur genes bro. It has nuttin to do with ur age. If ur dad or g’dad lost hair early, u prollly will too. It’s not normal for a guy at 18 to lose his hair tho. I’m a lil older and i haven’t even lost one strand but my dad who’s n his 60′s hasn’t either. If ur concerned, go to a hair specialist or dermatologist and get it tested.
my friend started balding or thinning out around 21. he bought a product from his hair stylist to help grow thicker hair. it works!! the boy has some thicker hair now and it didnt take long. ask a hairstylist. OR shave your head.
i don’t think you need to worry about it, If its in your blood line it will happen at some point. If thats your photo , you will be a hot looking guy no matter what. besides bald is in. it wears well on a lot of guys when you are hot, you are just hot..
Genetics rule – you cannot re-program genetics.
Stress, worry, depression, crappy diet, smoking, drinking, drugs, etc. all will help to speed up hair loss.
Many guys spend a small fortune trying to outrun baldness with pills, creams, lotions, wigs, weaves & transplants – but – in the end they still must accept the inevitable & get on with the rest of their lives. Life is not always the way it’s supposed to be. It’s just the way it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference.
Worry is like rocking in a rocking chair. It gives you something to do – but you aint going anywhere.
1) That is a bit early, but it can happen. I know a guy that graduated high school a year after me, who had just fringe at age 16.
2) Drugs, plugs and rugs. The first you will have to use the rest of your life, so expect to pay thousands of dollars. Plugs have gotten better, but I just don’t see how if the hair stopped growing there once, it won’t happen again. Personal opinion. Also expect to pay lots of money to have this done. Rugs – toupees, everyone can tell you are wearing one. Also I don’t think they make them for just the temples
4), That’s up to you. I did for about 5 minutes, give or take. It happens. I shave my head. My boyfriend loves it. Yes, I’m gay. I also have plenty of people that love to rub my head – men, women, gay, straight, bi etc. It’s quite fun.
5) It looks like your hair has receded some. It could be just that you’ve gotten the mature hairline, it could be that you are going bald.
My personal opinion is do whatever you feel you have to do. Whatever you do, don’t do the comb-over. It’s so obvious, and no one falls for it. I shave my head every day or two. Going bald happened to me. That’s life. If it’s the worst thing that happens to me, then my life is going to be great.
One more thing, there are plenty of sexy bald men.
